Panel moderated by ONF scheduled to explore how existing networking systems and silicon support SDN
PALO ALTO, Calif., September 18, 2013 – The Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), today announced that it will co-host the second J.P. Morgan SDN Forum with J.P. Morgan Equity Research analyst Rod Hall on Sept. 25 at the Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel located in Palo Alto, Calif.
The J.P. Morgan SDN Forum provides a venue for networking companies to join together and discuss SDN trends and the potential for SDN to change the competitive landscape of networking. The event program consists of both panel discussions and presentations from networking companies and venture capitalists.
“SDN and its underlying technologies offer a disruptive approach to networking, and we’re excited to co-host an event with J.P. Morgan that brings together companies and key influencers helping to shape the SDN movement,” said Dan Pitt, executive director of the Open Networking Foundation. “Without collaborative opportunities to discuss trends, innovation, and end-user requirements, the commercialization and global deployment of SDN would prove difficult. It is ONF’s mission to accelerate the adoption of open SDN, and we will continue to do so through a wide gamut of initiatives and activities that promote open SDN technologies and standards.”
A panel comprised primarily of newer, innovative companies involved in the SDN movement will be moderated by ONF’s silicon SDN expert Martin Izzard on Sept. 25 at 9:15 a.m. Titled “The Place of Silicon in SDN,” this panel will examine the degree to which silicon and existing networking systems can and will support SDN, as well as silicon’s future market role. Panelists include:
- Tao Gu, chief technology officer, Centec Networks
- Niel Viljoen, founder and chief development officer, Netronome
- Tsahi Daniel, chief technology officer, Xpliant.
