CORD is emerging as the defacto open source platform for carrier edge clouds. By leveraging a key set of technologies from the cloud, NFV and SDN, CORD helps operators transform their access and edge networks into nimble cloud-native infrastructure.
Major network operators globally just recently made a long term commitment to CORD and related open source platforms by introducing a new strategic plan for creating Reference Designs for how open source based solutions will be procured and deployed by operators. All involved in the CORD ecosystem (carriers, vendors and integrators) now are getting clear guidance from operators to ensure the industry aligns behind a small set of blueprints to be used across the industry for 5G, next-generation access, SDN data centers and optical transport networks.
Furthering the cause, Light Reading has partnered with CORD to host a pre-conference CORD workshop at its fifth-annual, flagship Big Communications Event (BCE). Taking place on Monday, May 14 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. The CORD Workshop discusses how CORD provides the basis for the new edge cloud. The CORD workshop at BCE will bring together operators and our broader community to share the latest developments in CORD, insight into the new project Stratum, as well as details on Reference Designs for the industry upon which operators plan to procure and deploy white-box open-source based solutions for production deployments.
Be sure to join and learn more about CORD’s bright future!
