ONF selects BII as the first international certified testing lab in its OpenFlow® Conformance Testing Program.
The Software Defined Networking (SDN) movement is undoubtedly a global effort. The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) may be based in the United States, but we see the global relevance of SDN in the various companies that join ONF from around the world, each time an ONF representative attends a conference in EMEA or APAC, and during each ONF Workday, PlugFest, or meetup event that we organize.
Therefore, it is very important that our OpenFlow® Conformance Testing Program meet the needs of the global SDN community, and this week we have announced that our new member company, Beijing Internet Institute (BII), has been selected as our first international certified testing laboratory.
BII has provided testing and consulting services to over 500 recognizable companies, evaluating vendors’ networking products for interoperability, conformance, function, and performance. It will expand its evaluation services by partnering with ONF to test SDN and OpenFlow® conformance, and it will offer companies the opportunity to receive OpenFlow® certification of their products.
Now ONF has two testing centers serving the globe – the Indiana Center for Network Translational Research and Education (InCNTRE) and BII – and we are continuing to work with testing labs around the world to expand our OpenFlow® Conformance Testing Program. It is through this program and the partnerships with our testing centers that we are building the confidence of end users in the products they use to implement and deploy OpenFlow-based SDN solutions, helping to speed their success and that of this networking revolution.
