Software Defined Networking and OpenFlow® protocol accomplishments made by member companies in July
July was a significant month for the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) as we reached another milestone. We surpassed more than 100 member companies worldwide since our inception in 2011 and unveiled our OpenFlow® Conformance Program, the highest level of industry assurance, validating product compliance with the OpenFlow® Specification for Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
Our achievements this month wouldn’t have happened without the support of our member companies who are helping us drive the open, standards-based SDN movement, which is why we should also take the time to recognize some of their OpenFlow-related accomplishments this month:
A10 Networks announced that its A10 Thunder™ Series is extending its family of Unified Application Service Gateways (UASGs) to small/medium business and enterprise customers. Built on A10's scalable and flexible Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS) architecture, A10 Thunder UASGs integrate application delivery, security, and cloud SDN.
F5 Networks announced new solutions to make it easier for organizations to scale to the cloud, extend SDN deployments, and add intelligence and programmability to IT environments.
Spirent announced that its Spirent TestCenter supported a public demonstration of OpenFlow® 1.3 interoperability testing at Interop Tokyo 2013.
Vello Systems established a three-node, optical network featuring white-box Ethernet switches in Equinix’s NY5 International Business Exchange™ date center in New York to act as the test bed for SDN.
As we reflect on the SDN accomplishments made this month from our member companies, it signifies the movement of deployments, interoperability, and innovation. We encourage our members to continue their advancements and drive the adoption of open SDN and the OpenFlow® protocol. We look forward to seeing the accomplishments made in August.
