The A-team is the ONF Ambassador Program’s 5-member body that oversees and guides the direction of the program. Ambassadors empower anyone knowledgeable and passionate about ONF projects and initiatives to promote these in their geographic region. The program provides a simple framework and tools to help organize or attend events, recruit and mentor new contributors, and support a local developer community.
Our 2022 A-team election results are in and we congratulate and introduce the two newly elected ONF Ambassador A-team members – Akram Hakiri and Aris Cahyadi Risdianto.
Akram Hakiri
Dr. Akram Hakiri is an associate professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of Carthage, and a research scientist at SYSCOM Labs’ ENIT, both in Tunisia. He has delivered talks at various international universities in the USA, India, France, Tunisia, and Romania. He serves as a peer reviewer for dozens of top-rated journals, technical program committee for multiple international conferences such IEEE WCNC2021, IEEE UIC2020, and as session chair of IEEE ICT2010, IEEE AICCSA2017. Dr Hakiri has also developed an excellent publication record in top-rated journals (IEEE-ComMag, JSS) and conferences (IEEE NetSoft, ACM DEBS, etc.).
Dr. Hakiri is an IEEE Senior Member and the Vice-Chair of the IEEE COM NetSoft SDN MCM P1930.1 standardization project. His current research focuses on developing novel solutions to emerging challenges in network virtualization, software defined networking, QoS and resource management in wireless networks, and DRE middleware running over data networks and embedded system interconnects. He obtained his M.S. of computer sciences in 2008, and his Ph.D of computer sciences in 2012, both at the University of Toulouse, France.
“ONF has developed cross-layered technology to enable programmable networks at all layers of the SDN stack,” said Hakiri. While telecom professionals have been using the ONF ecosystem for awhile, PhD students, junior and even seniors’ researchers from academia and industry sometimes find it a bit difficult to understand and assemble this cutting-edge technology into small projects using real-world scenarios and simulation environments. As an ONF A-Team member, I am committed to help them to figure out how ONF technologies interact and make it easier to learn more about ONF projects by developing and promoting real-world examples and tutorials. Additionally, I am engaged in accelerating the adoption of open, vendor-neutral, low-carbon footprint open network technology and advocacy using research and education in catalyzing creation and adoption of open disaggregated solutions for the Next Generation Network (NGN) beyond 5G/6G.”
Aris Cahyadi Risdianto
Aris started to follow open source projects beginning with the Linux Operating System and network software in 2000 when he was working on his bachelor degree. He began his professional career as a system and research engineer working for a system integrator company. Next, he worked as a network engineer/administrator in a multinational company and network service provider for over eight years. After that, Aris continued his studies, earning both a master’s and Ph.D. He became involved in an SDN and cloud testbed deployment and operation across Asian countries over a TEIN (Asi@Connect).
Aris joined ONF as an ambassador in 2018 and initiated a non-profit community Open Networking Indonesia (ON-ID) in Indonesia. He contributed to ONF ONOS NB API development and delivered a dozen talks on ONF projects at International events and conferences. Previously, AirsI worked as a researcher in the School of Computing at NUS (National University of Singapore) and published research publications related to SDN and ONOS controllers.
“As an experienced network engineer and open-source enthusiast, ONF is a good place to learn and enhance my knowledge on how to shape the future of networking,” said Risdianto.. By joining the ONF Ambassador steering team, I want to help to reduce the knowledge gap and the entry barrier between the ONF and anyone who has the similar interests as myself, especially individuals from South East Asia countries.”
