SDN Community-Building Symposia planned for India and Israel offer opportunities to share technology and build global SDN communities.
While my calendar shows that 2014 is rapidly coming to a close and I am relieved to be on my last business trip of the year, I am already looking forward to the most exciting of my 2015 travel plans. As I look at the list of my confirmed trips, there are two events in particular that I am looking forward to: the new SDN Community-Building Symposia in India and Israel.
Earlier this year, we set the bar high with OpenTech Ireland, our first event of the series. We were pleased to see the success of the event and the demand for the global SDN community that followed. Needless to say, we’ve been inspired to extend the momentum to other regions as well.
ONF has partnered with the Indian American Chamber of Commerce and CN Labs to co-host the Bangalore, India, event that will take place on January 18-19, 2015. India is a thriving and robust software epicenter in which we are looking to build SDN momentum at the local level. The event will highlight the SDN deployment plans of local companies, a hot topic in SDN globally. The attendees will consist of a diverse group including system integrators, operators, investors, academics, government, and vendors of all sizes.
With these SDN Community-Building Symposia, we are aiming to construct a strong SDN community made up of developers, operators, and end users, continue the advancement of SDN education, and accelerate the adoption of open SDN globally. We want to provide a unique gathering that focuses on our member companies in the area but embraces the entire SDN-related community there, and is tailored to the region’s particular specialties.
So that cost is not a barrier to attendance, ONF has worked to keep registration fees low; basically the hosting organization just covers its costs. The intent is to encourage as many industry representatives as possible to attend, and create the opportunity to develop important working relationships with others in the SDN industry. During these events, we encourage attendees to network and learn about one another’s products and business models, begin to develop solutions on a global scale, and become more active participants in ONF activities, further accelerating the adoption of open SDN.
There are three key benefits that companies and individuals can gain by attending these SDN Community-Building Symposia. The first is that they will gain additional knowledge about global technologies. Attendees will also be able to learn about potential global SDN opportunities. And finally, attendees will have the unique opportunity to introduce their companies to prospective collaborations within their own community. Overall, the goals are to continue to build SDN communities all over the world and to talk about the future plans for SDN adoption and implementation.
From Ireland last June, to India January 18-19, and to Israel on April 26, 2015, we look forward to creating new SDN communities all over the globe.
